My Cat, She Sleeps on the Landing


My cat,
she sleeps
on the landing
half-way up
the stairs.
I don't know why.


It's so damn hard
to get by
and every near miss
brings a slap
and a hiss.


Half-way down
the stairs,
my cat
she sleeps on the landing.
